Job Description:

The Facilities Custodian will be responsible for cleaning and sanitizing offices, meeting rooms, bathrooms, break rooms, grounds, production area and equipment. We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, flexible, and willing to take on routine cleaning and special projects as needed. The Facilities Custodian is expected to operate under the highest standards of compliance and professionalism.

 

Location: Warren Michigan

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Take instructions and follow direction as delegated by supervisors to meet daily and weekly, individual and team quality standards.
  • Perform general clean-up of all areas of the building.
  • Manage routine upkeep of exterior areas and parking lot.
  • Maintain safe walk ways both inside and out, including snow and ice on sidewalks.
  • Complete non-routine cleaning per job orders.
  • Properly dispose of plant waste and garbage daily.
  • Prioritize emergency cleaning and upkeep requests.
  • Ensure bathrooms, break rooms and offices are sanitized daily and stocked as needed.
  • Generate work-orders for recognized building issues.
  • Generate purchase-orders for facility supplies.
  • Works in a timely manner and strives to increase productivity.

 

 

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of 2 or more years janitorial and/or maintenance experience preferred.

 


Certifications, Licenses, Requirements:

  • Ability to work well under minimal supervision.
  • Capacity to take direction.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Physically capable of lifting and moving objects up to 50 pounds as necessary.

 

 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Operate floor scrubber, snow blower, and other equipment as required.
  • Understanding and using sustainable products required.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills among all levels of staff and clientele required.
  • Work effectively with diverse groups of people among all levels within an organization; skill to work effectively as part of a team required.
  • Perform role and job tasks effectively despite sudden deadlines and changing priorities required.
  • Excellent problem solving and organizational skills required.
  • Must work in a professional considerate manner at all times.
  • Excellent record of dependability and reliability required.
  • Must be a self-starter and work without direct supervision.
  • Working knowledge of hand and power tools is preferred.
  • Pass a criminal background check.
  • Ability to interact with coworkers, contractors, and the general public in a positive and professional manner.

 

Working Conditions:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

 Position requires frequent walking, climbing stairs, standing on cement floors, turning, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, pushing and pulling; may be subject to adverse working conditions; dust, grime, noise, fumes, wet floors etc., including weather.  May require tools and equipment operation.  May require irregular and/or extended hours, including weekends, evening, and holidays, determined by event schedule and/or department need.
