Key facts about purchase limits, taxes, caregivers, and renewal — everything you need after you've been approved.

Medical cardholders in Colorado can purchase up to 2 ounces of flower, 8 grams of concentrates, or 20,000mg of THC in edibles per day.

Tax Advantage

Medical purchases are only subject to 2.9% state sales tax plus any local taxes — significantly less than the recreational excise tax rate.

Colorado recognizes four types of registered caregivers for patients who need assistance:

  • Cultivating caregiver

  • Parent / legal guardian of a minor patient
  • Advising caregiver

Patients Under 18

Minors can qualify for the program but require two physician certifications and a registered caregiver (typically a parent or legal guardian).
